Section 22-4. Requirement for verbal communication

The employer shall ensure that the employees have good knowledge of the language used so that they can pronounce and understand spoken messages correctly and act accordingly in a manner appropriate to preventing situations that may entail a risk of harm to life or health.
When safe execution of the work requires verbal instructions, the employer may only use employees who can understand such instructions.
Verbal instructions, including instructions agreed upon in advance, shall be in the form of short texts, sentences, phrases and/or individual words, and they shall be clearly understandable.
Verbal instructions may be given directly using the human voice or indirectly using a human or artificial voice announcement through a medium.
