Section 18-8. Measures when a person is lifted

Only work equipment and platforms designed for lifting persons shall be used to lift employees.

Work equipment that is not designed for lifting persons may be used for the purpose by way of exception. Exceptional lifting is assumed to involve little danger, be of a short-term nature, and apply to uncomplicated work tasks. When such work equipment is occupied by an employee, the control station shall be staffed continuously. The employee being lifted shall have reliable means of communication and the possibility of being safely evacuated.
