Section 3-11. Specific measures for working with carcinogenic or mutagenic chemicals

A closed system shall be used where it is not technically feasible to substitute carcinogenic or mutagenic chemicals and processes pursuant to Section 10-1 of the Regulations concerning Organisation, Management and Employee Participation. Where the use of a closed system is not technically feasible, it must be ensured that the exposure is kept to a minimum and at a completely safe level.
Carcinogenic and mutagenic chemicals shall be stored and transported in closed containers that are clearly labelled and, if possible, sealed.
Access to premises where employees may be exposed to carcinogenic or mutagenic chemicals shall only be granted to employees who are to carry out work on the premises, including cleaning and repairs.
Appropriate warning and safety signs shall be posted to delimit areas in which there is a risk of exposure to carcinogenic or mutagenic chemicals. Smoking prohibited signs shall be posted in areas where employees may be exposed to carcinogenic or mutagenic chemicals.
